The importance of sustainable skincare

Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.

It is also a great way to get started on a more sustainable lifestyle. And we’re here to give you a few tips.

We work hard to have as many eco friendly alternative as possible, but given that we are still such a small company, we are not perfect! However, every time we come up with a new product, we take in consideration what our packaging will be and how we could possibly offer refills.

Luckily, since they’ve opened, over a year ago, we’ve had the majority of our products at Vintage Green Review, the first and only zero waste store in New Orleans! So, you can always hold onto your container and get a refill. You’ll save money and help the planet! Just remember to wash your container and let it dry completely before refilling, so that your products can have a longer shelf life.

Now here’s a few tips to make your skin care routine a little more eco friendly

Reuse, reduce, refill, before you recycle.

Unfortunately, not a lot can be recycled. So please try to reuse containers or order refills, before tossing it in the recycling bin. Because there is a big chance it will still end in the landfill.

Reuse

You can reuse your containers to store spices, hair ties and clips, office supplies or glitter and other small gems!

Refill

We offer refills for our Clay Masks and Face Exfoliant. These come in compostable bags!

Another tip is: use your products before they go bad!!

Got a product you’re not crazy about? Gift it to a friend ! Also, this is the main reason we offer sample sizes of our products. We want you to be able to try it before committing to a full product. The main reason we make our products is that we want them to get used, not forgotten on a shelf.

Sounds simple, but also don’t forget to turn the water off while applying your skin care products or brushing your teeth. It’s a little step that helps if you do it constantly.
