About us

We founded Madonna Lily to spread positivity and nourish our community through nature. 

We craft, test and use all of our products with care and thoughtfulness. Every ingredient is chosen with intention, from each plants’ purpose to who it will benefit. Through efforts to reduce and recycle packaging, it is our mission to minimize waste. We draw our strength from Mother Nature and wish to keep her happy.  

Madonna Lily is forged in friendship and fueled by a love of all things natural. Hailing from Romania, we first met in Timisoara in 2009 and have spent the last decade working, laughing, crying and adventuring together. It was Raluca who first thought to sell the sugar scrubs we had been creating for ourselves and our friends. After bettering our craft and approach through farmer’s markets in Cape Cod, we decided to return to New Orleans, a city that had already captured our hearts, where we felt we could take root. The love of plants was fostered in Diana in her grandparents’ garden, where her grandma had a natural cure for everything. One of these was a homemade liniment made up of comfrey root and white lily petals grown herself. These lilies were originally called the Madonna Lily by the Romans and believed by the Greeks to have originated from the milk of Hera, queen of the gods and protector of women. By using this name we can both honor the past and celebrate our present and future as a 100% women-owned business that helps inspire others to reconnect with nature.
